Privacy Policy

Last updated September 20, 2026

Sharon Ben Davar ("we") runs VinylDuel. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect when you use it, why, who else is involved, and how you can see or delete your data.

What we collect

You can use VinylDuel without an account: searching, ranking and viewing shared pages need no sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID from Google.

What we store on our servers is:

  • your Google account ID, display name and profile picture link, saved together with your rankings;
  • the rankings you finish while signed in: which album, artist or playlist, your order, when, and how many choices it took.

We do not store your email address in our database. It exists only inside your sign-in session cookie.

What is public

Your rankings are public by design. Anyone with the link to your profile or to one of your rankings can see your name, picture and rankings, and other people can find your profile by searching for your name. Your rankings also count towards the "community ranking" of each album. If you do not want this, do not sign in, or delete your data (see below).

What stays on your device

While you rank, your unfinished progress is saved in your browser or app (local storage) so you can resume later. If you finish a ranking while signed out or offline, it is kept there until you sign in and it can be sent; it is then saved to your profile like any other ranking, which makes it public as described above. This stays on your device until you finish, discard it, or delete your data.

Cookies

We use only cookies that are strictly necessary for signing in securely; some are set as soon as you open the site, even if you never sign in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not currently run analytics. The full list, with what each one does and how long it lasts, is in our Cookie Policy.

Who else is involved

  • Google: provides sign-in. Its use of your data is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
  • Apple (iTunes Search API): when you search or rank, your browser asks Apple directly for album, song and preview information. Apple therefore receives your IP address and what you searched for, under Apple's privacy policy.
  • Vercel: hosts the website and the API, and processes standard request logs (such as IP address) to run the service.
  • Neon: hosts the database that stores the rankings described above.
  • Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube: if you import a playlist, our server fetches only the public playlist page for the link you gave us.

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your rankings until you delete them or your account data. Replacing a ranking with a newer one of the same album overwrites the old one. Hosting providers keep their own operational logs for a limited time under their own policies.

Your choices and rights

On the Account page (sign in, then select your name at the top of the page, or open the menu and choose "Account & data") you can download a copy of everything we store about you and permanently delete all of it. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as correction or objection. Email us and we will help.

Children

VinylDuel is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
